Air Conditioning in Teneriffe, Brisbane
Teneriffe’s streetscape is defined by its old woolstores: big brick warehouses along Macquarie Street and Vernon Terrace that once handled Queensland’s wool clip and have since been converted into apartments. Around them are newer apartment buildings and townhouses, and up on Teneriffe Hill there are timber houses that predate the conversions by decades. Cockatoo Plumbing Electrical is based in Toowong, Brisbane, and supplies and installs split system air conditioning in Teneriffe. Call 0450 963 633.
Warehouse conversions
Woolstore apartments tend to have high ceilings, exposed brick, heavy timber beams and tall windows. That volume of air needs more cooling capacity than the floor area alone would suggest, and the original fabric limits where indoor units and pipework can go. Where a wall-mounted head would cut across feature brickwork, a floor-standing or ceiling-concealed unit may be an option, subject to the building’s approval.
Newer apartments and townhouses
In Teneriffe’s newer buildings the outdoor unit normally goes on the balcony or in a plant area set aside for it. When replacing an older unit, we check whether the existing pipe run suits the new refrigerant and capacity before deciding to reuse it, and confirm the circuit is adequate.

Houses on the hill
The Queenslanders and cottages on Teneriffe Hill have the usual character-house constraints: tongue-and-groove walls, decorative ceilings and a frontage that owners want left alone. Outdoor units go to the side or rear, and pipe runs drop under the floor rather than across the front.
Low ground near the river
Parts of Teneriffe close to the river are low-lying. For ground-level outdoor units on those sites we recommend a raised stand, and checking the address on Brisbane City Council’s Flood Awareness Map before choosing the spot.
