Ducted Air Conditioning in Tarragindi, Brisbane
Tarragindi’s wide streets and larger blocks mean many homes have room to grow, and a lot of them have. Low-set post-war houses have gained second storeys, rear extensions and open-plan living, and rebuilds now sit beside the originals. With more rooms to cool, ducted air conditioning becomes a practical option. Cockatoo Plumbing Electrical is based in Toowong, Brisbane, and installs ducted air conditioning in Tarragindi. Low-set homes with modest roofs
Many 1950s Tarragindi houses have a fairly low-pitched roof. Before anything else, we check the roof space for enough height to hang the indoor unit, solid framing to carry it, and room to run duct to each outlet. Where it is tight, a slimline unit or a location over the hallway can solve it.
Homes with a new upper floor
When a second storey is added, the old roof space often disappears. The upstairs rooms can be served from the new roof, and the downstairs from a bulkhead or a second unit in the floor void between levels. We plan this with the builder so outlets and returns land in the right spots.
Zoning for the way you live
Three or four zones suit most Tarragindi homes: sleeping, living, a study and sometimes a rumpus or granny flat. Each zone can be switched off when not in use, which keeps running costs down. A larger system with zoning is usually quieter than several splits running flat out.
Upgrading an older ducted system
If your existing ducted system is noisy or slow, the cause is often the duct work rather than the unit: flattened flexible duct, poor joins or a return air grille that is too small. We assess all of it before recommending a replacement.
Bush-edge homes
Houses near Toohey Forest get more leaf litter and dust. Outdoor units need clear space around them, and return air filters may need cleaning more often.
